The First Lady of Sierra Leone, Madam Fatima Maada Bio, has announced her successful completion and certification from Columbia University in the United States, following an intensive three-day Global First Partners Training hosted at the prestigious Ford Foundation in New York City.
In a public statement, the First Lady expressed her deep gratitude and pride in being part of the transformative experience, which aligns with her ongoing commitment to raising the bar for girls and children across Sierra Leone and Africa.
“What made this moment even more special,” she shared, “was witnessing my daughter also receive her certificate, representing the daughters of Sierra Leone as the daughter of the President.
Watching her stand tall as a symbol of the next generation was truly an inspirational and proud moment for me as a mother and leader.”
Mrs. Bio dedicated both her and her daughter’s certificates to the children and dreamers across Africa those who strive each day to build better lives for their families and communities.
She concluded by extending heartfelt appreciation to her husband, His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio, President of Sierra Leone, whom she described as her “HE4SHE” partner, for his continued support and encouragement in her efforts to inspire and empower the next generation through education and opportunity.
This achievement adds to the First Lady’s consistent advocacy for education, girls’ empowerment, and global partnerships aimed at uplifting communities in Sierra Leone and beyond.

Congratulations ma and your beautiful daughter keep it up
Congratulations the Iron Lady.
I won’t relegate over a 3 day conference as standing tall representing a country of over 8 million people, go do something substantial like other First Ladies then you can brag. There have been highly claimed First Ladies with Ph.Ds that they actually worked for, not bought and they never make any noise and insult cabinet members or job providing companies in their respective countries.
