First Lady Fatima Bio Engages Social Welfare and Gender and Children’s Affairs Ministers on Youths and children’s welfare
Mohamed Aruna In a bid to ensure a smooth running and sustainable development in the sector involving children, women and the Youths, Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, has held a meeting with the Minister of Social Welfare Madam Melros Kaminty and the Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs Dr Isata Mahoi to deliberate on issues pertaining to children’s welfare and rights.
The main discourse included the advancement of the Child Rights Bill, the Prohibition of Early Marriage Bill, and issue surrounding Kush, Parenting and alcohol drinks.
This is seen as a strategic move to making sure that, the issues is brought are well considered.
The two Ministers, have also been very proactive in the campaign against early marriage, the child right bill and the fight against the Kush which has been a maiden fight in the country currently.
The engagement is seen as a very strategic one in terms of putting forces with the first Lady Fatima Bio who has been the champion in the fight through hey flagship project titled “Hands Off Our Girls” in the country.
First Lady Fatima Bio has for a long time acknowledged the importance of the girl-child education and the need to push the girls in terms of development and having them contribute to nation building as well as movers of developmental projects in the country.
