Dr. Fatima Maada Bio has officially inaugurated a new college named in her honor, aimed at enhancing healthcare education in Sierra Leone.
The Dr. Fatima Maada Bio College of Health Science and Allied Technology, located in Waterloo, is set to become a cornerstone for training the next generation of healthcare professionals.
At the launch event, Dr. Bio expressed her gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the importance of this initiative in supporting her husband, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio’s vision for the country. She highlighted that the establishment of the college marks a significant milestone in her ongoing commitment to educational development.
“This college represents a vital step forward in our mission to invest in human capital,” Dr. Bio stated. “I am proud to support an initiative that empowers our youth and addresses pressing social issues.”
The college is designed to provide young Sierra Leoneans with essential skills in healthcare, positioning them to meet the growing demands of the industry. It will also play a crucial role in complementing her Hands Off Our Girls initiative, which aims to tackle critical challenges such as child marriage and gender-based violence.
In a move to further empower young women, Dr. Bio announced the awarding of 20 scholarships specifically for female students at the college, ensuring that financial barriers do not impede their educational aspirations.
Alhamdullilah, thanks for boosting learning in Sierra leone, I’m not sure it is like Earnest Bai Koroma University who took away Islamic institution and converted to public property. Because Muslims are mouthless to speak.
