During a recent public gathering, First Lady Fatima Maada Bio made remarks that drew laughter and applause from the audience as she addressed the issue of marital fidelity among Sierra Leone’s past and present leaders.
In her speech, Mrs. Bio commented that historically, many of the country’s presidents had either multiple wives or numerous concubines. However, she noted that her husband, President Julius Maada Bio, does not follow that pattern.
“All the presidents that have ruled this country if they didn’t have many wives, they had plenty concubines,” she said. “But President Bio, when he looks at me at home, he knows he cannot try such, because he knows I’m crazier than him.”
The audience reacted with loud applause and laughter in response to her statement.
While the comment was made in a light-hearted manner, it also served to highlight the First Lady’s firm stance on loyalty and her visible commitment to their marriage. No individuals were directly mentioned in her remarks.
Fatima Bio is known for her outspoken nature and advocacy on issues related to women, families, and social empowerment. The remarks have been widely shared online and have drawn mixed responses from the public.
I only comment that as a President. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah for one, with peace as his mandate, would not have had any avaiable time for “wives or concubines”.
Let her know that before she was, there were someone else.
Good to be part of future discussion
It really pleases me to be here
La sagesse manque dans sa manière de parler. Elle représente l’image des femmes de ce pays
I see a divorce just after power.
She keeps making this comment. It now seems an obsession. Something is up. And if this isn’t clickbait and despicable journalism, I don’t know what is. Your article is entitled “Fatima Bio Sends Strong Message To Maada Bio’s ‘Side Chick’” but then proceed to tell us how she states that her husband doesn’t engage in such behaviour.
