First Lady, Fatima Bio, held a high-level engagement with the Sierra Leonean diaspora in the United States, reaffirming the crucial role of citizens abroad in the national development of Sierra Leone.

During her recent visit, the First Lady was hosted by the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) North American Region, led by the New York Chapter. The engagement served as a platform for “meaningful discussions” centred on unity, progress, and the shared vision for a stronger nation.

She stressed that geographical distance does not diminish the dedication of Sierra Leoneans to their homeland.

She expressed profound gratitude for the diaspora’s “unwavering support” for President Julius Maada Bio’s administration.

“Our diaspora community continues to demonstrate that distance does not diminish dedication,” the First Lady noted. “Together, we remain united in our shared vision for a stronger Sierra Leone.”

The First Lady concluded her message with a call for national solidarity, invoking the slogan: “One country, one people. Power to the people.”
