The First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Bio has officially commissioned three newly constructed mosques in Kono District, Eastern Sierra Leone.
Her Excellency expressed excitement over the actualization of what she described as the dream of her father and ancestors.
She noted that the houses of worship will provide a suitable and conducive space for the people to practice their religion without let or hindrance.
Mrs. Bio used the forum as an opportunity to applaud Sierra Leoneans for being religious tolerant, adding that such a unique attribute continues to keep our people together in peace and love.
“Islam is about peace and love and I would like to encourage religious leaders to continue spreading messages that will promote unity and peace in Sierra Leone and support national development,” she asserted.
She described her presence and role in the commissioning of the religious edifices as a huge blessing.
She concluded by assuring that her Office will continue to partner with the right agencies for the construction of many more Mosques around the country while encouraging the people to take proper care of the respective structures.
At the request of the First Lady, the three Mosques were constructed by Direct Aid and Ummah Welfare Trust.
