The First Lady of Sierra Leone, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, welcomed Madam Setcheme Jeronine Mongbo, the UN Women Head of Office in Sierra Leone, and her team to her office on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

The meeting, described as “very productive,” focused on exploring avenues for strengthening cooperation between UN Women and the Office of the First Lady.

During the discussion, Dr. Bio expressed her appreciation for the collaborative efforts aimed at advancing the rights and well-being of women in Sierra Leone.

“We held a very productive discussion on ways to strengthen cooperation between UN Women and my office,” the First Lady stated.

Fatima Bio also acknowledged the warm congratulations she received from Madam Mongbo regarding her recent election as President of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).

“I am also grateful for her warm congratulations on my election as President of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD),” she expressed, heartily.

The role reflects her commitment to advocating for women’s issues not only in Sierra Leone but across the African continent.
