A fence collapse in Alpha Tarrance, Calaba Town, has claimed the lives of four people, including a mother and three children.
Ten others were injured in the incident, which occurred early this morning following heavy rainfall and flooding.
The National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) reported that the collapse of the fence from an abandoned house onto a makeshift structure below caused the fatalities. The victims have been identified as Adamsay Mansaray (42), Mariama Kargbo (20), Adamsay Kargbo (11), and Saidu Sesay (4 months).
The injured individuals were immediately transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
The NDMA has expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and has called on the public to exercise caution when living in areas prone to flooding or near unstable structures. The agency had previously assessed the fence and advised residents to relocate due to its deteriorating condition.
In response to the incident, the NDMA swiftly mobilized to secure the scene and provide support to the affected families. The agency is also conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
