Kroo Bay Community, one of the informal settlements and vulnerable places in Freetown has faced another fire disaster that has placed hundreds of Sierra Leoneans homeless and properties worth millions of Leones destroyed.
The fire incident took place on Sunday 19th September, 2021 in the evening hours. The cause of the fire is yet to be known. Red Cross Society and other organisations will be visiting the scene to ascertain some information.
Kroo Bay Community has been a fire prone area. Due to the structures, and the number of people that are residing there with different activities, the community has been in the frontline for fire disaster. In March 2019, another fire disaster destroyed properties worth millions of Leones. Two fire trucks came to the scene but could not access the fire because there were no roads.
