Following recent engagement with Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) members and supporters in the United States, First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio publicly affirmed her role as a “Messenger” of President Julius Maada Bio, emphasizing her political actions are guided by her husband’s directives.

I am a Messenger of President Bio,” Mrs. Bio stated, asserting that her political involvement is strictly aligned with the boundaries set by the President. She clarified, “Anything I do in politics has to be within the confines of President Bio’s instruction,” underscoring her commitment to supporting his leadership.

Fatima Bio expressed that her loyalty and obedience to her husband are fundamental to her role as First Lady. She noted that deviating from his directives causes her discomfort at the State Lodge, implying that harmony at the Presidential residence relies on her adherence to his guidance. “I did not marry Maada Bio, but it is him that married me,” she added, reinforcing her supportive stance.

In her remarks, Bio stressed that her political engagement is not driven by personal ambition but by a commitment to the SLPP and its future. “I have sacrificed a lot to bring the SLPP to power in 2018,” she stated, reflecting on her dedication to the party’s success.

I will not sit down and watch the party return to opposition in 2028. That is why I am fully involved in the political process,” she asserted, passionately discussing the sacrifices she has made during the SLPP’s journey to regain power. Her contributions, she noted, extend beyond ceremonial duties to include strategic mobilization and grassroots engagement.
