The rise and fall in the price of rule over months now have been challenging as some dealers find it difficult to adjust to new prices whenever there is a change in the price of the product.
A report has accused fuel dealers in Kenema and its environs of closing their filling stations to the public as a result of the recent drop in the pump price from Le 21 to Le 19.5.
It was reported that, despite filling stations claiming the unavailability of fuel at their stations, the product is available on the black market at different prices per liter.
Commercial bike riders in the district charged passengers whatever price they feel like claiming they are buying fuel from black marketers.
Residents of the district have made it a habit of calling radio stations accusing fuel dealers of making life uncomfortable for them.
Some dealers claimed, they wanted to buy at the new price rate.
Speaking to the press, Joseph Sese Joker of the Petroleum Regulatory Agency (PRA), stated that they are working tirelessly to monitor the situation.
He went further to assure the public of a normal situation soonest stating that more tankers have started entering the district and the product will be sold at the new rate.
He concluded by saying black market issues should be handled by the police and fire force stating that PRA does not give licenses to black marketers but to fuel dealers who are the ones they are responsible to monitor.
