Sierra Leonean singer Fyn Face has publicly declared his interest in succeeding the embattled King Boss LAJ as the nation’s Peace Ambassador, following LAJ’s remand in Bo Prison over allegations that he insulted the Mayor of Kenema.

In a social media post that has since sparked controversy, Fyn Face wrote: “After performing for the president at Bo school we headed off to Chapter 1 and we had some great fun … the Next peace Ambassador incoming …”

Fyn Face, a former loyalist of the Black Leo crew and leader of the Soja Team Movement record label, argued that the current title holder is unfit for the position and that he is the better candidate for the job.

King Boss LAJ — born Alhaji Amadu Bah — was appointed Peace Ambassador by President Julius Maada Bio in February 2024 . His official duties, as outlined in his appointment letter, included promoting “peace, reconciliation and national cohesion in Sierra Leone, both at home and abroad,” building “peace cultures,” enhancing “tolerance,” and supporting “peaceful resolution of conflict”.

However, the rapper was arrested on March 30, 2026, at Freetown International Airport while reportedly attempting to travel to The Gambia. He now faces six criminal charges after allegedly referring to Kenema City Mayor Thomas Karimu Baio as “a bastard” during a live performance at the Bo City Shopping Plaza on March 21, 2026 .

During a court appearance on April 1, 2026, Magistrate Samuel James Brima denied LAJ bail, and he was remanded at the Bo Male Correctionary Centre. The matter has been adjourned to April 8, 2026 .

Fyn Face, a seasoned singer with over a decade in the entertainment industry, already enjoys a connection to the presidency. His song “Missionary” is reportedly President Bio’s favourite tune, and the singer had the honour of performing the song for the President at the Presidential Lodge.

In July 2025, Fyn Face’s collaboration with Queennak titled “With You” was officially submitted for GRAMMY consideration in the Best African Music Performance and Best Global Music Performance categories, marking a significant milestone in his career.

However, Fyn Face has also faced public setbacks. In December 2025, his performance at the Gbangbaode show was cut short after fans booed him off stage and threw empty drinking rubbers toward the stage .

Fyn Face’s declaration has drawn mixed reactions. Critics have questioned whether an artist who was recently booed off stage and has faced frequent public criticism is suited for a role that demands moral authority and broad public respect.

The singer remains a polarizing yet active figure in the industry. Through his Soja Team Movement label, he has signed and supported other artists, offering opportunities for growth and exposure.

He also collaborated with Kao Denero, the current Entertainment Ambassador, on the music video for “Obeke the Twins,” a track he referenced in his announcement post.

Fyn Face’s announcement comes shortly after Entertainment Ambassador Kao Denero issued a strong warning to the creative community following LAJ’s arrest. Speaking at the OBBA annual gala on April 4, 2026 — an event attended by President Bio — Kao Denero urged artists to exercise discipline and respect for the law.

“Dis na Sierra Leone, nor be America,” the Special Envoy for Entertainment and Investment told the audience. “Artistes coming up should be mindful and respectful. We should be mindful of words and actions as we continue to entertain the people”
