Sierra Leonean music artist FynFace and members of his record label, Soja Team Movement, were embarrassed and forced off stage on Tuesday night after a hostile reaction from parts of the audience at the Gbangbanode show.

According to eyewitness accounts and statements circulated after the event, FynFace and his team were invited onto the stage to perform when they were met with loud boos from sections of the crowd.

The situation deteriorated when some individuals in the audience began throwing empty drinking rubbers toward the stage, disrupting the performance and creating an unsafe environment that led to the group’s early exit.

A statement from supporters described the incident as “completely unacceptable and honestly very disappointing,” noting that the behavior did not reflect the values of a healthy and supportive music culture.

The source said that while music fans have the right to express opinions and criticize performances, publicly humiliating artists during a live show amounts to sabotage rather than constructive criticism.

The statement further highlighted FynFace’s contributions to the local music industry, describing him as a consistent and hardworking artist who has remained active despite facing frequent public criticism.

It also noted that through Soja Team Movement, FynFace has signed and supported other artists, offering opportunities for growth and exposure within the industry.

“Despite all the criticism he faces daily, he still chose to empower other artists by bringing them under his record label,” the statement said, adding that such efforts warrant respect, regardless of differing opinions about his music.

The incident has sparked renewed discussion within the entertainment community about audience conduct at live events and the impact such actions can have on artists and the wider industry.

Supporters warned that repeated incidents of disrespect at public shows could hinder the development of Sierra Leone’s music scene and affect artists’ chances of gaining wider recognition.

“No artist deserves to be disrespected like that, especially not on a platform meant to celebrate talent,” the report stated, calling for greater respect, unity, and support within the industry.
