JUST IN: Government Declares all Degrees Awarded by Dominion Christian University, African Graduate University Null and Void

The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE) and the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) have today issued a joint communique declaring that all degrees awarded by the Dominion University, Africa Graduate University, African Graduate University and all other unknown unaccredited universities in Sierra Leone are null and void and should not be considered valid for employment or as a criteria for further studies.

According to MTHE and TEC, the joint communique was issued in light if the recent developments relating to accredited universities conferring fake degrees and awaiting fake certificates and diploma in Sierra Leone.

“Contrary to the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) Act of 2001 and the imperative to restore academic integrity and address public concerns, the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE) convened a meeting of key stakeholders in government at the MTHE office in New England, Freetown on 20 April 2022,” they stated.

The meeting acknowledged press release made by the TEC informing the public that the Dominion Christian University and African Graduate University are not accredited to confer degrees (ie Bachelor, Masters and Doctorate Degrees) in Sierra Leone and such degrees are null and void.

The meeting further commended the Academic Staff Association of the University of Sierra Leone and Conference of Vice Chancellors and Principal for condemning the conferment of fake degrees in Sierra Leone by accredited institutions
