The Ministry of Social Welfare (MoSW) has lifted the temporary ban on the registration and renewal of Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs), allowing them to resume operations with immediate effect.

The decision follows the ministry’s ongoing review of the Policy on Religious Tolerance, aimed at strengthening religious harmony and social cohesion in the country. The suspension, initially imposed as part of policy reassessment, had restricted FBOs from formal registration and renewal processes.

In a statement, the ministry acknowledged the critical role of religious organizations in promoting unity, addressing social issues, and contributing to national development. It emphasized the government’s commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where religious groups can operate freely while upholding constitutional principles.

The review of the Policy on Religious Tolerance is still underway, and the ministry assured that updates would be communicated in due course. Stakeholders are encouraged to proceed with the registration and renewal process through official channels.

This move reaffirms the government’s stance on religious freedom and peaceful coexistence, core values that have long defined the nation.
