As the issue of fake degrees intensifies, the Bank Governor of Sierra Leone, Professor Kelfala Kallon has today ordered all commercial banks operating in the country to provide evidence of academic degrees of members of staff within 15 days.
It is reported that, the Bank Governor made this declaration at the Launch of the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion.
Professor Kallon stated that, “All Commercial Banks operating in Sierra Leone should provide evidence of academic degrees of all members of staff within 15 days from today to the Bank of Sierra Leone”
Sierra Leone Commercial Bank has become the second government institution to have publicly asked their staffers to provide their academic certificates, after the National Revenue Authority (NRA) did the same yesterday.
The issue of public officials acquiring fake degrees from fake tertiary institutions have been making waves in the news lately, with some people calling on the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Sierra Leone to investigate the matter.
