Reports emerging from Kaliyere Village in Falaba District indicate that Guinean soldiers allegedly crossed into Sierra Leonean territory and captured several Sierra Leonean military and Operational Support Division (OSD) officers before fleeing the area.

The incident was highlighted in a video circulating on social media, posted by Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray. The authenticity of the video and the claims made in it have not yet been independently verified by official authorities.

According to statements made in the video, a Sierra Leone Army Lieutenant sustained serious injuries during the confrontation. The officer stated that he was stabbed in the face close to his eye and that his ear was pierced during the attack.

Speaking in the video, the Lieutenant further alleged that the attackers “carpeted all our colleagues including our captain identified as Francis.

An officer of the Operational Support Division (OSD), who also appeared in the footage, confirmed the reported capture of personnel. “They have captured our men, this is not a joke again,” the OSD officer said in the video.

The officers in the footage indicated that, out of fear of further attacks, they decided to retreat from the area. They cautioned that the location was already being surrounded, suggesting concerns about escalating tensions.

As of the time of publication, there has been no official statement from the Sierra Leone Armed Forces, the Sierra Leone Police, or Guinean authorities regarding the alleged incident.

Details surrounding the circumstances of the reported incursion, the number of officers involved, and their current whereabouts remain unclear.

Falaba District shares a border with the Republic of Guinea, and cross-border security issues have occasionally raised concerns among local communities. Authorities are yet to confirm the claims contained in the circulating video.
