The Chairman of the Global Financing Facility (GFF) Ministerial Networking Group, Dr. Austin Demby, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Health, on Wednesday held an update meeting with GFF leadership at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Held on the margins of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (#UNGA80), the discussions focused on the upcoming GFF Strategy (2026–2030) and preparations for the 21st Investors Group Meeting in Senegal this November.
The new strategy aims to strengthen country-led health financing and accelerate progress in maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health.
Dr. Demby reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s commitment to the GFF platform. “For Sierra Leone, the GFF is more than a financing mechanism; it is a partnership that aligns domestic and external resources to improve the health and well-being of women, children, and families.
As we look to 2030, our focus is ensuring no mother or child is left behind. Our approach is guided by the four A’s: Accountability, Alignment, Acceleration, and Accompaniment,” he said.
The meeting underscored Sierra Leone’s leadership within the GFF Ministerial Network and its push to mobilize additional resources for universal health coverage and stronger health systems.
