The Minister of Youth Affairs, Mr. Ibrahim Sannoh, met with Prof. Foday Sahr, Executive Director of the National Public Health Agency (NPHA), to discuss youth-led strategies to combat MPox, a disease significantly affecting young people.
Accompanying the Minister were key figures including the Director of Policy Research, Planning and Management, Mr. Marlon Esq., the President of the National Youth Council, and the President of the Sierra Leone Bike Riders Union.
Their presence showcased a united front from various youth constituencies in the fight against MPox.
The discussions focused on mobilizing young people as frontline health champions. The plan includes community outreach, peer education, and awareness campaigns designed to empower youth to take an active role in curbing the disease.
Recognizing that young people are the most affected demographic, the high level collaboration is poised to harness their energy and creativity in public health initiatives.
As the government and health authorities work to address the rising cases of MPox, the involvement of youth is seen as crucial in enhancing community resilience and facilitating public health responses.
