The Inspector General of Police (IGP), William Fayia Sellu has allocated four additional motorcycles to the Moyamba Police Division, significantly increasing operational capacity.
This initiative is to improve police mobility, enhance security operations, and provide speedier reaction times throughout the area.
The new motorcycles are anticipated to boost police coverage, particularly in isolated locations where mobility has historically been limited. Chiefdom officials stressed the need for increased mobility during IGP Sellu’s recent outreach visit of the region.
IGP Sellu, on his statement, promised the public that controls will be put in place to make sure that the motorcycles are only utilized for security purposes. Local officers expressed delight over the increased motorcycles, showing how earlier mobility restrictions had impacted their capacity to respond promptly to emergencies and preserve law and order.
This progress is consistent with IGP Sellu’s overall goal of enhancing the Sierra Leone Police, (SLP), through increased operational effectiveness, logistical support, and community-based policing. Under his leadership, the SLP has made significant progress in improving internal capability, resulting in increased public trust in the police force.
The introduction of motorcycles is to assist patrol operations and initiatives to prevent crime in Moyamba. Officers are advised to use the additional Motorbikes properly, to maintain public safety and create ongoing community confidence.
