On January 10, 2025, the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC) of Sierra Leone presented its comprehensive three-year report to His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio at the State House.

This report covers the period from July 2021 to July 2024, highlighting the Commission’s key activities, accomplishments, and challenges in promoting peace and unity across the nation.

The ICPNC has been at the forefront of efforts to foster a Sierra Leone where justice, peace, and social cohesion are integral to its development.

The Commission’s mission focuses on promoting peaceful coexistence, equity, and inclusivity, while enhancing capacities for conflict prevention, resolution, and management to bolster national growth.

To guide its operations, the Commission developed a Strategic Plan centered on six core areas: Peace Promotion, Mediation and Reconciliation, Early Warning and Early Response, Strengthening National Cohesion, Advising the Government, and Coordination and Collaboration.

These pillars form a comprehensive framework aimed at nurturing peace and reinforcing national unity, which are crucial for sustainable development and stability.

During the presentation, President Bio expressed profound gratitude for the Commission’s unwavering commitment to its mandate.

He emphasized the essential role of peace and national cohesion as foundational elements for Sierra Leone’s progress.

The President assured the Commission of the government’s continued support in advancing the shared goal of a peaceful and united Sierra Leone.
