The Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MOICE) is gearing up to host the inaugural Salone Civic Festival, a landmark event aimed at fostering stronger connections between the government and citizens of Sierra Leone.
Set to take place on December 11-12, 2024, at Youyi Building, the festival promises an immersive experience that combines civic education, cultural celebration, and interactive learning.

The two-day event will serve as a platform for citizens to directly interact with government ministries, gain insight into key national policies, and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Sierra Leone.

Interactive Booths and Big Five Exhibitions: Ministries will set up interactive booths where officials will share progress on the government’s “Big Five” agenda, answer public questions, and provide information about ongoing and future projects.
Engaging Sessions with Government Leaders: Key officials and national leaders will participate in sessions designed to provide citizens with a clearer understanding of national policies, encouraging public participation and discourse.
Cultural and Arts Celebrations: The festival will feature live music, art exhibitions, and fashion shows, celebrating Sierra Leone’s rich cultural history. A dedicated Food Fair will offer local cuisine, adding a flavorful dimension to the event.
Launch of New Platforms and Policies: The event will also see the official launch of the Civic Education Strategy, which encompasses six core pillars: Love Salone, Feed Salone, Clean Salone, Heal Salone, Digitize Salone, and Salone for We All. These pillars are designed to instill national pride, foster responsible citizenship, and promote collective ownership of the country’s development.
Live Performances and Film Screenings: Attendees will enjoy a variety of live musical performances, cultural showcases, and film screenings, highlighting Sierra Leone’s diverse artistic talent.
Civic Awards: The festival will culminate with the presentation of Civic Awards, honoring individuals and groups who have made significant contributions to civic engagement and national development.
