Secretary of the Interim Transition and Government Committee (ITGC) of the All People’s Congress (APC), Abdul Kargbo has said that they are confident that the party’s delegates’ conference will go as planned.
He affirmed that the party’s lawyers are still weighing up their chances to hold their conference as they are filing papers with the Judiciary and the plaintiff.
Commenting on the statement made by the Chairman of ITGC, Alfred Peter Conteh, he said that he was surprised to see the press release of the Chairman and quoted Justice Fisher’s judgment which stated that decision by the ITGC must be by a simple majority.
“A single individual cannot make decision on behalf of the ITGC,” he said in an interview with State Radio SLBC.
He said that they are hopeful that the Judiciary will grant their latest notice of motion.
He confirmed that the plaintiff, party member Francis Kai Gbondo was the same individual that petitioned the party to the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) that brought the party to court yesterday.
“He [Gbondo] does not want the party to progress,” he said.
On Friday morning thousands of people converged at the party’s headquarters in Brookfields Freetown as they await the court’s decision.
