The Judiciary of Sierra Leone has informed the public that it has assigned 26 Judges Nationwide to preside over Election Petitions Pursuant to Section 131 [3] of the Sierra Leone constitution 1991, Act No. 6 of 1991 constitution.
According to the Judiciary of Sierra Leone Press Release, The Elections offences and Petitions Court is a specialized division of the High Court established under section 143 [1] of the Public Elections Act 2022 Act No. 17 OF 2022 to expeditiously deal with Election offences and petitions.
To enhance Transparency and fair adjudications of election offences and petitions, the Judiciary is decentralizing its operations through the assignment of these judges to judicial districts with separate Registries that will be set up.
