The Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has donated food and non-food items to victims of the windstorm in Kono.

The ceremony was done in the chiefdom headquarters of Gandorhun Town in Kono District.

The donation was witnessed by the Director of National Disaster Management Agency, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Deputy Minister of Works, and Public Assets, Resident Minister East, Paramount Chiefs, Chiefdom security personnel, authorities, affected properties owners and the media among others.

It could be recalled that on the 7th of May 2022 a heavy wind storm destroyed many houses and properties worth million of Leones and left several citizens homeless in Gandorhun Town, Gbane Chiefdom, Kono.

Speaking, the Honorable Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh extended his heartfelt on behalf of the government of Sierra Leone, adding that it is not a day job to build a home. He said house building has several processes and up it completion seeing it destroyed over night is painful.

Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh pointed out that under the leadership of His Excellency Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio worked by his manifestos to have created and fully support the National Disaster Management Agency to support victims of natural disasters across the country.

Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh applauded sons and daughters from Gbane Chiefdom in Kono staying in the Diaspora for complementing Government efforts to aid the affected house owners in Gandorhun Town in Gbane Chiefdom Kono District.

 


He maintained that Kono District one of the most unique in term of peace and showing love to their fellows.
Items donated were bags of rice, assorted cooking oil, blankets, bundle of zincs, packet of nails and many other items worth million of Leones.

The Chiefdom authorities and affecting house owners thanked government the of Sierra Leone for it’s timely support and ensured that items received will be used for it’s purposes.
