Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, on Monday 26th February, attended the Legacy Conference where he delivered a keynote address, raising awareness on the Contributions of the Special Court for Sierra Leone to International Justice, Peace and Security in Freetown.
In his speech, he highlighted the immense contributions of the Special Court for Sierra Leone and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission towards the transitional justice, good governance and stability in Sierra Leone.
He underscored that they have not only helped shape the establishment of democratic institutions in the country such as the Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone but also nurtured processes and local competencies that continue to impact the justice landscape both at home and abroad.
Vice President Juldeh Jalloh closed by reiterating the importance of rising above partisan divide to actively promote national cohesion which he stressed is pivotal for a stable democracy.
The Legacy Conference was organized by the Sierra Leone Government of H.E. President Dr. Maada Bio & its Partners to highlight how hybrid UN Special Court for Sierra Leone (SC-SL) helped develop International Jurisprudence, Peace & Security.
Key personalities including the Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, representatives from the U.S. Embassy Freetown, the current ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan and others graced the occasion.
