Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Steven of High Court has ordered the continued remand of Lamin Sesay, the surety for a man popularly known as Biggie Tel, who is facing criminal charges related to the dangerous drug Kush at the High Court in Freetown.
The accused, Biggie Tel, who hails from the East End of Freetown, was granted bail in March 2025 in the sum of fifty million old Leones (Le50,000,000) with one surety required to produce a valid national identity card. Lamin Sesay, who took up the responsibility of surety, was later arrested after the accused jumped bail.
A bench warrant was issued for Sesay’s arrest, and he was taken into custody. Upon arrest, Sesay reportedly attempted to pay the full Le50,000,000 bail sum as stated in the bond agreement. However, the court rejected his offer. Since then, he has remained on remand without appearing before any judge for a hearing, dating back to April 2025.
The case against Biggie Tel is being prosecuted by the State. Despite several bail applications before the High Court, it was only at the discretion of Justice Steven that bail was eventually granted to the accused who subsequently absconded.
