Former presidential candidate Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray has fiercely responded to recent comments made by Information Minister Chernor Bah, denying allegations that he is a fugitive from justice and insisting his departure from Sierra Leone was legally sanctioned.

In a strongly worded social media post, Mansaray pushed back against the Minister’s claims, categorically stating that he did not escape from the Pademba Road prison. Instead, he asserted that he was granted bail by the judiciary to travel abroad for medical treatment.

According to Mansaray, his release was prompted by a government conclusion that he would die within six months if he remained incarcerated. He noted that his departure was fully official, stating that he traveled out of the country through Lungi International Airport.

Mansaray also addressed the legal and financial conditions of his release. He explained that the court stipulated his surety would be required to pay Le30 million if he failed to return or jumped bail.

The opposition politician claimed that he has already paid the Le30 million to the government through his legal team. Following this payment, Mansaray questioned the Minister’s characterization of his status, asking how he could be considered a fugitive or someone running from the law when he has met the financial penalties of his absence.

The response was highly critical of Minister Bah personally. Mansaray referred to the Information Minister using derogatory terms and labeled him a “complete disgrace” in his public post.

This online rebuttal follows Minister Bah’s recent televised interview, where he dismissed Mansaray’s credibility to comment on national issues, citing the politician’s criminal conviction and repeatedly labeling him a “fugitive from the law.”
