Sierra Leone’s Energy Sector Lead, Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, has been awarded the prestigious Global Leadership Award at a ceremony held in New York.
The recognition reflects his contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and his commitment to advancing global initiatives aimed at fostering peace, prosperity, and sustainability.
The Global Leadership Award is presented by various chapters of the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA), which has a rich history of honoring influential figures.
Former recipients of the award include notable leaders such as former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, former Secretary of State John Kerry, and South African Bishop Desmond Tutu.
The UNA-USA’s Global Leadership Dinner has been a key event for 55 years, gathering policymakers, diplomats, UN supporters, business leaders, and celebrities.
The dinner serves to emphasize the vital role the UN plays in addressing global challenges and to celebrate individuals and organizations that have made notable contributions to UN causes.
