Presidential Aspirant for the main opposition All People’s Congress Party, Alhaji Kemoh Sesay has said that he blames the president of Sierra Leone, Dr Julius Maada Bio, for the sad happenings in the well of the country’s Parliament.
He made this statement in a discussion program at AYV with Journalists Phebean Swill and Samuel Wise Bangura.
As he was asked to asses the parliamentarians of this government and the work they do, he stated that their own Parliament is different from today because they had the freewill to debate and say things and get away with it but such does not happen now without a fight.
He said during the reign of late Pa Kabba he was to be arrested and jailed but pa Kabba intervened saying that no one should touch him for calling him ‘Kolonko’, adding that: “If it was somebody else I would have been in jail”
Speaking on the physical fight in Parliament among parliamentarians not long ago, he stated that the police Officers interference in the well of the Parliament is a disgrace, stressing that it should not happen in Parliament.
“That’s the well of Parliament. They can do anything to themselves, nobody should interfere. They can never hurt themselves, they only began to hurt themselves when there was interference.” He said.
Sesay stated that he blames the Presidency for such happenings, because the president is the Supreme authority, the fountain of justice and its his obligation to make sure there is justice, honor and human right.
He mentioned that in Parliament today, lobbying does not take place and that laws are enacted by force.
“they tell you they are going to pass this and they will pass it. Whether you accept it or not they will pass the law. Lobbying is a normal practice, lobby professionally in the interest of the country but if you lobby by twisting arms it’s not lobbying ” said Sesay .
He said during their own time, such never happened because when they don’t agree on something, they force the Speaker to walk out saying that he is under their protection.
