Kenema Government Hospital is set for major improvements following recent advocacy efforts that secured support for critical renovations and facility upgrades.

The hospital will undergo renovations in Ward One, the theatre, the dental unit, and the main walkway — areas that directly affect patient care, safety, and staff working conditions. Authorities say the upgrades will create a more conducive environment for both patients and healthcare workers.

Construction of a new tarmac road within the hospital premises has officially begun, aimed at improving accessibility and internal movement across the facility.

Through the Ministry of Health, the hospital has also secured a dedicated electricity transformer, which will provide a more stable power supply essential for theatre operations, diagnostic services, and overall healthcare delivery.

Hospital management says these developments mark a significant step toward strengthening healthcare infrastructure and enhancing service delivery for residents in Kenema and surrounding communities.
