The Kid’s Parliament of Sierra Leone, led by Speaker Hon. Monica Jackson, paid a visit to the Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security, Mohamed Rahman Swaray, at his New England Ville office in Freetown.
The delegation was warmly received by Minister Swaray and the Ministry’s Senior Permanent Secretary, Joseph Tekman Kanu.
Discussions centred on critical issues affecting children in Sierra Leone, such as child labour, street children, corruption, and access to education, among others.
Hon. Jackson, 16, highlighted the Kid’s Parliament’s ongoing efforts through structured sittings and dedicated parliamentary committees and expressed hope for positive collaborations to safeguard the future leaders of Sierra Leone.
Minister Swaray commended the initiative, affirming the Ministry’s commitment to collaborate with the Kid’s Parliament in addressing these vital issues and improving children’s welfare in the country.
This engagement underscored the significance of engaging young people and empowering them to play a role in shaping policies aimed at protecting children’s rights in Sierra Leone.
