The First Lady of Sierra Leone, Dr. Fatima Bio, has publicly accused the Owner of Koidu Holdings Limited of demanding the Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh to dismiss the Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, Julius Daniel Mattai.

In her recent Social Media address, she played audio recordings that she claims were sent by the Koidu Holdings owner, in which he referred to Sierra Leone’s ministers as “useless.”

Dr. Bio expressed her outrage over the alleged comments made by the Koidu Holdings owner, stating, “I am not going to be threatened by those useless Ministers because they are all useless.”

This statement, according to the First Lady, posed a troubling attitude towards the government officials appointed by President Julius Maada Bio.

In the audio played by Dr. Fatima Bio, the Koidu Holdings owner, in expressing anger towards the Mines Minister, reportedly stated, “He is useless! If he works for me, I will fire him straight away. I have told the Chief Minister, they should fire him.” The demand was directed at Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, who is also a minister in the Bio administration.

Dr. Fatima Bio emphasized that her fight against Koidu Holdings is not a personal revenge but a stand for the welfare of over ten thousand Sierra Leoneans, including 1,025 workers of Koidu Holdings who have recently faced job insecurity due to the company’s actions, and their families.

“For every one worker, you will have nothing less than a hundred families depending on that worker,” she stated, asserting the broader impact of the company’s decisions on the community.

Dr. Fatima Bio further revealed that the Koidu Holdings owner has filed a lawsuit against her, claiming that he has threatened her through his legal representation. She responded defiantly, saying, “You can only deal with me in Sierra Leone,” and challenged him to confront her directly in the country, as she prefers not to travel abroad.
