Former President of Sierra Leone and Chairman of the All People’s Congress (APC), Ernest Bai Koroma has affirmed that his party will win the next presidential election in June.

The former president made his affirmation while addressing supporters at the party’s National Delegates Conference at the northern headquarter of the party in Makeni.

He admonished party members to continue showing their tenacity and love for the party amidst a barrage of court cases that have been brought against the party over years.

He added that Sierra Leoneans should be proud of the work the party did while he was serving as president for ten years.

He stated that locals should cite developments that took place within his administration and that of President Bio before heading to the polls on 24 June.

Koroma also urged party supporters to be calm and maintain peace and drew reference of the ranking of the country as the most peaceful in West Africa and number three in Africa during his tenure.

He ended by assuring supporters that the party is for everyone and that discrimination is not part of their activities.

In another news, former Foreign Minister under President Koroma, Dr. Samura Kamara has won a landslide victory in the party’s presidential flagbearer race this afternoon. The winning will see Samura Kamara contest against President Bio for the second time. However, there are chances that the APC candidate could not contest if he’s found guilty of the Sierra Leone Chancery fiasco at the High Court which is slated for judgment tomorrow.

Political analysts have criticised the Judiciary over the snail pace of the matter which they believe could be a recipe for chaos if the APC candidate is disqualified.
