The media continues to be awash with stories of former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma meeting with outstanding personalities who have engaged him in recent days to discuss issues of statesmanship, Leadership and democracy in Africa and respect for human rights, according to an analyst who has been watching and analyzing the recent engagements.
According to reports, the first international figure to pay him a courtesy call at his Rogbaneh Residence, Makeni city of northern Sierra Leone was the former President of Liberia, Her Excellency Mrs. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf (she is also a winner of Nobel Prize in peace). The engagement was held on Sunday 10th October, 2021.
She reportedly congratulated former President Koroma for his display of dignity and respect for the values of development and democracy in Sierra Leone, West Africa and Africa as a whole.
Next to visit the retired President was the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary General at his Goderich residence on Monday 11th October, 2021. Reports state, adding frank and fruitful discussions were held on issues relating to world peace, stability and conflict resolutions.
On Tuesday 12th October 2021, former President Koroma was to again receive the new EU Ambassador/Representative to Sierra Leone, Manuel Muller.
The outstanding diplomat also lauded Ernest’s demonstration of commitment and contributions to the development of Sierra Leone, leading of elections monitoring teams to number of African States, respect for human rights, political tolerance and rule of law, sources indicate.
By the end of the day i.e., Tuesday 12th October, 2021 former President Koroma was again accorded respect and recognition when the new British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Miss Lisa Chesney visited him at his Goderich Residence, where they reportedly held discussions.
Meanwhile, the Political Observer has pointed out that these successive visits of eminent personalities to Ernest Bai Koroma continue to add laurels to his stature and status as an outstanding politician, peace-maker and mover of development in Africa.
“It is also an indication of the prowess of APC to be producing outstanding Leaders that are in their own class from the failed Leaders SLPP has been producing for Sierra Leone, especially the current SLPP President Dr. Julius Maada Bio,” the Analyst noted.
According to his assertion, these visits also send a message that APC is poised to produce the next President of Sierra Leone, come 2023.
