One of the most democratic institutions in the country, the Sierra Leone Teachers Union is set to hold its Conferences and Elections for various executive positions nationwide.
In a press release issued by the Secretariate early this week, the Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Teachers Union Morris Conteh noted that the Union would be holding its Conferences and Elections nationwide to elect a new Leadership for the next four years-2022- 2026.
It was furthered that the one hundred Sierra Leone Teachers Union Branch Conferences and Elections across the country will commence from Monday, 7th November to Tuesday 22nd November, 2022.
The twenty District/ Zonal Delegates Conference and Elections will start from Monday 28th November to Monday 7th December, 2022.
This will be followed by the Four Regional Delegates Conference and Elections. This is a two-day event -stating from Monday 12th -Tuesday 13th December, 2022 at Hotel 5:10 in Freetown.
The Secretariat notes that details of the specific dates, names of branches/Districts, venues and times have been supplied in public notices, social media platforms and circular letters sent to schools.
With these strides made by the Union, all teachers and members of the Union are encouraged to attend these Branch Conferences and Elections in their various localities as every member is qualified to participate.
The Branch conferences will get teachers to vote or be voted for in electing the new executive and delegates who will represent them at the next level of the conference.
