INTERPOL has issued an international arrest warrant against three Lebanese brothers for stealing a staggering US$8M (Eight Million United States Dollars) from Fawaz Group of Companies which owns Fawaz Building Materials, Sierra Paint and Design, Technotec and Sierra Frozen.
The three Lebanese brothers (Rabih Faysal Hamdoun, Walid Faisal Hamdoun and Musa Hamdoun) reportedly embezzled this huge sum of money over an undisclosed period of time.
Reports at INTERPOL in Freetown show that Rabih Faysal Hamdoun (the criminal gang leader) transferred huge sums of the stolen money to his relatives in Lebanon and America for safe keeping through some commercial banks and foreign exchange bureaus. It has been confirmed that all the three suspects are currently hiding somewhere in Lebanon. All three suspects carry Republic of Lebanon passports.
On 5th July, 2022 the head of INTERPOL in Sierra Leone requested his global counterparts to immediately arrest all the suspects (Rabih Faysal Hamdoun, Walid Faisal Hamdoun and Musa Hamdoun) and repatriate them back to Sierra Leone to face justice. A legal action has been taken against the three Lebanese brothers in the High Court of Sierra Leone, Commercial and Admiralty Division.
Fawaz Group of Companies is one of the biggest employers in Sierra Leone and one of the largest tax payers. One of its subsidiaries is the biggest importer of building materials including imported cement and iron rod.
The Lebanese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, resident in Freetown, has been informed of the matter. The Sierra Leone Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is also aware of the matter.
Investigations continue.
