The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS) on Friday, 10 April 2026, convened key stakeholders to validate the results of the 2025/26 National Crop Production Survey during a session held at its Conference Hall in Youyi Building, Freetown.
The engagement marked the second time the ministry has conducted the National Crop Production Survey, an initiative designed to generate critical data on the country’s agricultural output.
According to MAFS, the survey plays a central role in guiding policy decisions, informing resource allocation, and shaping interventions aimed at improving productivity and ensuring food security nationwide.

MAFS stated that the validation process is a crucial step in reinforcing transparency, accuracy, and collective ownership of the data.
The exercise brought together a range of stakeholders, including government institutions and United Nations agencies, to review and assess the findings. The ministry emphasized that such collaboration helps ensure that the survey results remain credible and serve as reliable evidence for decision-making.

Officials noted that the validation process allows stakeholders to scrutinize the data, provide input, and build consensus on the final outcomes before public release. This, MAFS added, strengthens confidence in the survey and enhances its usefulness for national agricultural planning.
The ministry further confirmed that the official report on the 2025/26 National Crop Production Survey will be released in the coming weeks by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka.
MAFS reiterated its commitment to data-driven decision-making, noting that reliable agricultural statistics remain essential for addressing food security challenges and supporting sustainable development in Sierra Leone.
