Ibrahim Turay has begun a long-distance walk from Kenema to Freetown to raise awareness for youth empowerment, education, peace, and the fight against drug abuse.
Turay stated that his journey is a call for national reflection on the challenges facing Sierra Leone’s young people.
“After 145 miles of walking, I have arrived in Masiaka,” Turay shared during his trek. He described the physical toll of the journey, including leg pain and sleepless nights, but said it continues with “faith and purpose.”

He reported relying on the hospitality of communities along the route, eating in homes and sleeping outdoors.
The walk has drawn public attention, with local residents offering him food and shelter. Turay emphasized that his action is not a political statement but a movement of hope.

“This is not just a walk,” he said. “It’s a symbol of strength, passion, and sacrifice.”
His message is that Sierra Leone’s progress depends on its youth working toward a peaceful and drug-free nation.
As he continues his trek toward Freetown, Ibrahim’s message remains clear that Sierra Leone’s progress depends on its youth standing tall, walking forward with courage, and never giving up on the dream of a peaceful, empowered, and drug-free nation.
