Mohamed Thoronka, a young man who reportedly suffered from depression, recently hanged himself with a rope in the Dwazark Community, Freetown.

According to witnesses, Mohamed Thoronka had been dealing with mental health concerns for quite some time. His death led to debate about the need of psychological awareness and support networks for people suffering from depression, anxiety, and stress.

A concerned citizen stated that those who are experiencing emotional discomfort should seek help rather than suffering in silence. Some Experts said that suicide is frequently an attempt to escape extreme distress, rather than a wish to terminate one’s own life.

Members of the community and friends offered their condolences, calling on society to be more compassionate and understanding of people dealing with mental health issues.
