Sierra Leone’s Maritime Wing has today, Sunday, 31 July 2022 received Tactical First Aid Training from Coastguardsmen from the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter MOHAWK.
The U.S. Embassy in Sierra Leone made the revelation on a social media post.
“Coastguardsmen from the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter MOHAWK conducted Tactical First Aid Training today with their partners in Sierra Leone’s Maritime Wing,” the Embassy stated.
They added that, “The training the Coastguardsmen shared and practiced is based on United States military guidelines for trauma life support, designed to reduce preventable deaths in emergency situations.”
On Saturday, the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Mohawk arrived I the port of Freetown, after USNS Trenton arrived few day earlier.
“The USCGC Mohawk will be in town for a few days. Following this port visit, the crew of the Mohawk will partner with the Sierra Leone Maritime Wing on joint operations at sea, as part of the U.S.-Sierra Leone joint operations and training to support our common goal of ensuring security, safety and freedom of navigation at sea. Maritime security is critical for Africa’s prosperity and access to global markets,” the U.S. Embassy states.
