The Mayor of Freetown, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr has been granted bail after pleading not guilty to charges relating obstruction and disorderly conduct at a Magistrate court in Lungi on Friday.
The opposition politician appeared in court on two counts charges including obstruction of Police Duty contrary to section 39 of the Police Act and Count two, disorderly behaviour.
Bail application made by the legal Defence team led by former Attorney -General Joseph F. Kamara and consisting of Melron C. Nicol -Wilson and Wara Serry -Kamal.
Bail was granted in her own recognisance. However, the court requested that a sum of NLe 100,000,000 in like sum be paid and evidence of national ID and passport is to be submitted.
An application was also made for the matter to be transferred from Lungi to Freetown which was granted. Matter adjourned to Friday, 21st October 2022 .
