The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, has come out strongly in defense of President Julius Maada Bio’s frequent international travels, arguing that the national benefits derived from these engagements far exceed the financial costs.

His statement follows growing public debate and criticism over the President’s travel schedule, especially during a time of economic sensitivity.

Speaking in a recent media interview, Minister Bah emphasized that every presidential trip is strategically planned and carefully executed to secure vital partnerships, investments, and opportunities for Sierra Leone.

He dismissed suggestions that the President travels for leisure purposes, asserting that President Bio’s personal interests are limited to “nature and family time.”

“When the President chooses to travel, it’s because he has done a cost-benefit analysis,” Chernor Bah, Minister of Information and Civic Education.

According to Bah, the President’s foreign missions are not ceremonial, but rather targeted initiatives that continue to yield tangible outcomes for national development.

He further noted that the administration remains committed to maximizing diplomatic opportunities to enhance Sierra Leone’s global presence and economic prospects.

“The returns on these investments are demonstrably greater than the expenses incurred,” Bah maintained, reinforcing the government’s stance that the President’s travels are a strategic investment in the country’s future.
