The newly appointed Minister of Youth Affairs, Ibrahim Sannoh, earlier today, Wednesday, May 28th 2025, visited the area beneath the Juba Bridge in Freetown to connect with marginalised young people living in challenging conditions.

The strategic movement is notably part of the Ministry’s dedication to understanding and addressing the issues faced by vulnerable youth across Sierra Leone.

Accompanied by his Deputy Minister, the Director of Programs, and the Director of Youth in Livelihood Skills, Minister Sannoh spent several hours engaging with the youth, listening to their stories of hardship, addiction, and resilience.

During the visit, he stressed on the importance of youths steering away from drug abuse and assured them of ongoing support from the Ministry.

Among the individuals who shared their experiences was Rosamond, a young woman who, despite her difficult circumstances, demonstrated strong reading and writing abilities.

She expressed her dreams and revealed her struggle with a serious eye condition. Moved by her situation, Minister Sannoh pledged to ensure she receives the necessary medical treatment and educational assistance.

Another distressing story came from Alie Foster, a young man who lost one leg in a tragic accident and continues to endure severe pain in his remaining leg. Minister Sannoh expressed empathy for Alie’s plight and committed to arranging the medical care he urgently needs.

This is not a show. It’s a responsibility,” Minister Sannoh stated. “Our youth deserve opportunities to heal, grow, and contribute. No one should be left behind.”

The youth expressed gratitude and hope as they embraced the delegation, with many stating it was the first time they felt seen and heard by government officials.
