Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education (MBSSE) has announced Monday September 6, 2021 as the resumption date for schools in Sierra Leone.
A statement on Wednesday by the MBSSE Director of School Quality Assurance reads;
“The Ministry of basic and Senior Secondary School (MBSSE) herby announces for the information of the public that ALL SCHOOLS will reopen for the commencement of the 2021/2022 academic year on Monday 6th September, 2021.
“MBSSE notes that the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) is currently ongoing and will run until early October 2021. Whilst this examination has no effect on the operations of the primary schools, it is understandable that normal schooling for the several Junior and Senior Secondary School will be occasionally interrupted.
“However, the Ministry, the conference of Principals of secondary schools and the Sierra Leone Teacher Union have engaged those schools whose facilities are being used as an examination centres to determine specific and appropriate plans for days where there may be disruption to normal schooling.
“MBSSE regrets this inevitable inconvenience and solicits the cooperation of parents, guardians and school authorities to support continuous learning and school activities.”
