The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development engages the UNHCR the World Bank and other MDAs to foster synergy for growth and development in several areas to Focus on National Development Plan.

The Ministry shared on social media that the  engagement was a positive and forward-looking discussion among key stakeholders aimed at reviving the Development Partnership Committee (DEPAC) meetings.

MoPED outlined that the meeting brought together a prominent group of figures including Madam Kenyeh Barlay, Chairman and Minister of Planning and Economic Development, UNRC Dr. Babatunde Ahonsi, and World Bank Country Manager Abdu Muwonge as Co-Chairs to the Committee.

They said that the discussion aimed to bring together an array of participants, including development partners, representatives from the private sector, various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), as well as members of civil society.  The overarching goal of these collaborative engagements is to foster synergy among these diverse sectors, thereby amplifying the nation’s development efforts. During the deliberations, a key consensus emerged – a testament to the spirit of cooperation that characterizes these engagements.

It was unanimously agreed by the members of the meeting that the inaugural DEPAC meeting, slated for early September, would prioritize a central agenda: the formulation and groundwork for the Successor Medium Term National Development Plan (MTNDP 2024-2028). This new plan is set to draw inspiration from the 2023 Peoples Manifesto Big Five Game Changers, a pivotal directive from the government of President Bio.

They also discussed that towards September anticipation will build around the upcoming DEPAC meeting, adding  collective efforts of the involved parties aim to steer the trajectory of the nation’s progress, aligning it with the aspirations outlined in the Peoples Manifesto.

At the end of their post, they said that they are dedicated with an overarching dedication to the nation’s prosperity, the resumption of DEPAC meetings is poised to forge a path of collaboration, innovation, and inclusive growth for years to come.
