Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Youth Affairs, with support from UNDP, held a three-day workshop to plan and build skills for the Youth, Peace, and Security agenda at the Atlantic Lumley Hotel in Freetown.
This workshop convened youth leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to enhance the engagement of young people in shaping effective national peace and security policies.
Sorina N. Dumbuya, representing the National Coordinator of Young Women’s Groups, noted active participation from attendees as the National Technical Working Group (NTWG) discussed strategies to ensure meaningful youth involvement in the NAP.
Discussions focused on youth empowerment, generational perspectives, cross-sector collaboration, economic inclusion, and establishing monitoring mechanisms to support implementation. Day one laid the foundation for creating an inclusive roadmap that aligns Sierra Leone’s youth priorities with global YPS commitments.
