In a related development, the Government of Sierra Leone is shifting its Mpox response strategy from home-based care to facility-based treatment following a significant increase in cases.
To address the escalating outbreak, the National Public Health Agency (NPHA) recently inspected a newly established Mpox Treatment Center at the Police Training School (PTS) in Hastings. The facility is designed to safely manage and treat confirmed Mpox cases before patient admissions commence.
The Ministry of Health and the NPHA continue to urge the public to follow health guidelines, promptly report any suspected cases, and support ongoing efforts to contain the Mpox outbreak. Citizens are urged to rely on official sources for accurate information, directing inquiries to the National Public Health Agency’s website: www.npha.gov.sl. Anyone seeking assistance or wishing to report potential cases are advised to call 117.
