The African Young Voices Media has announced that renowned Islamic scholar Mufti Ismail Menk is set to make his third visit to Sierra Leone in 2025, according to an official statement from the Foundation of Islamic Information Sierra Leone (FOISIL).
Abdul Latif Kargbo, Executive Director of FOISIL, disclosed that Mufti Menk’s anticipated visit had initially been scheduled for December 26, 2024. However, delays in the completion of the renovation of the national stadium in Freetown necessitated a rescheduling.
“We are eagerly awaiting the conclusion of the national stadium’s renovation to finalize our plans,” Kargbo explained. Despite these setbacks, the management has assured Sierra Leoneans that the celebrated scholar will indeed visit the country in 2025.
The visit is expected to include stops in Bo and Makeni, two major cities in Sierra Leone. However, organizers are still deliberating on the appropriate venue to host the event in Freetown. “We are working diligently to ensure that this visit is memorable and accessible for all Sierra Leoneans,” Kargbo added.
Mufti Menk’s previous visits to Sierra Leone were marked by large crowds and significant engagement with the Muslim community, solidifying his influence as a global Islamic leader. Details about the exact dates and venues for his 2025 visit will be communicated to the public once finalized.
