Honourable Alhaji Musa Tarawally has provided a development grant to support economic empowerment efforts in Falaba District, as the Falaba District Cooperative Society on Saturday disbursed funds to beneficiaries in Mongo Chiefdom.
The grant, facilitated through the Falaba District Cooperative Society, is aimed at helping residents improve their businesses, strengthen livelihoods, and enhance financial stability. Organizers of the programme were keen to stress that the support is not political, but a purely developmental intervention designed to uplift communities and stimulate local economic growth.
Unlike loan schemes, the support provided by Hon. Musa Tarawally is in the form of a grant, meaning beneficiaries are not required to repay the funds. The initiative is intended to provide direct relief and capital support to small-scale entrepreneurs and vulnerable groups within the district.
A significant component of the grant programme focuses on women’s economic empowerment, particularly women engaged in income-generating activities. The initiative recognizes the critical role women play in family welfare and community development, and aims to strengthen their capacity to contribute meaningfully to local economic growth.
The Cooperative Society emphasized that the grant is non-partisan and inclusive, with beneficiaries selected without regard to political affiliation, belief, or background. The overarching objective, officials noted, is to promote self-reliance, improve household incomes, and support sustainable community development across Falaba District.
Beneficiaries have been encouraged to use the grant support responsibly and productively, with the expectation that the intervention will contribute to business growth, job creation, and long-term economic stability within the district.
